Virtual Pet Niche Gains New 50K Download Player
PicPet is a social app where you and your friends “raise” a virtual pet together. Think of it like SUSH back in 2024, if you have been reading us for that long.
They entered TikTok in February 2026 and are currently running five creator accounts, still early, still testing, still figuring out their way.
And you can see that in the numbers:
Most apps in this category focus heavily on the “long-distance relationship” angle, which is not surprising.
But one creator, @jimmy.makes, is intentionally avoiding that cliché, while arguably leaning into another one.
He’s positioning PicPet by comparing it to one of the biggest players in the industry, Snapchat. And it worked, because that’s what unlocked his first real traction.
“i love gen z cuz wdym there’s an app like snapchat but the streak is a pet🐶🐱🐹🐰🦊” — 34.9K views
In the “virtual pet” space, people don’t care about the app’s features. They care about the relationship the creator builds with the pet almost like a human bond.
And Jimmy is starting to lean into that, starting to get close to hitting its first 500K.
“yall i have a new kid”-> 228.8K views
The app is now sitting at 50K monthly downloads.
