A Spanish recipe app is starting to break out with a very familiar UGC playbook.

CookNest is a recipe-saving app built for people who want to collect, organize, and revisit recipes in one place.

Released in April 2025, it pulled 10K downloads last month and climbed to #15 in Food & Drink in Spain.

What makes the growth interesting is how little reinvention seems to be involved. CookNest launched its UGC campaign in early March 2026. Within days, the team had already landed on a clear winner.

On March 19, ambassador @migle.cooknest hit 1.4M views with the hook:

“12 años cocinando y AHORA me entero de esto??”

In English, that translates to:

“12 years cooking and NOW I’m finding out about this??”

Another ambassador, @marinaiscooking, hit 1.4M views twice with the same strategy and a very similar hook.

That is the real story here.

The team did not need to invent a brand-new format. They took a hook structure that had already proven itself in English, then adapted it to a Spanish-speaking audience with the same UGC setup: shocked reaction first, then a quick app demo.

The “X years doing Y and only now I discovered this” hook already had a strong track record elsewhere. CookNest simply brought that same discovery angle into Spanish recipe content, where it still feels fresh enough to travel.
