How To Test Formats Before You Even Launch

Sometimes the smartest move for a pre‑launch app is to test formats on TikTok first, so it knows exactly what works by the time it goes live.

Rumii.uk is still in development, the app hasn’t launched yet and is currently running on a waitlist. It’s designed to help students find compatible roommates. Even though it’s still pre‑launch, they already have a TikTok account testing formats.

The entire account runs on slideshow videos using screenshots of the app.

Some videos rate people who signed up to become potential flatmates

“Rating potential flatmates for next year as an Imperial student”->78.2K views

Others look almost like dating‑app content: a different male profile on each slide, framed as a choice.

“Help me choose a roommate as a girl moving to London for uni in September” → 475.7K views

That angle could work really well, especially if they use formats inspired by dating app storytelling.
