The breakup app seeding a creator network

A breakup app that built a creator network instead of ads — and pulled 20M views in a month by never showing the product…

The breakup app seeding a creator network

ICK – No Contact Tracker is a post-breakup companion app. It turns the no-contact rule into a visible streak.

Ick launched ~17 days ago and sits under <5K downloads/revenue.

Instead of building one branded page, they planned out a small creator network from the start: @theickapp, @itsyour_andi, @sarahspamsherlife, @brenda.pitton, etc.

They post about relationship trends (#him, confession POVs), keep the product invisible, and let creators post first-person micro-stories that mirror the moment you’d actually need a “no contact” counter.

And it works for now…

In the last 30 days they managed to hit 20.8M views with multiple 1M+ spikes.

The format they used:

  • 0–2s tight selfie (moody room light), minimal movement.
  • Big one-sentence confessional overlay (“when he starts crying because…”) or talk-to-camera with auto-captions.
  • Trending sound (#him, sad edits) or quiet room tone.
  • No product; sometimes a subtle brand handle or caption.

Let’s see whether those 20.8M views will turn into installs and how if they’ll expand the creator network to keep the momentum.
