Sherlock’s 6.3M Views Format Shift

Sherlock is already a successful app with strong download numbers, but they refuse to stagnate. Every now and then, we spot an interesting shift in how they are leading their strategy, something worth reporting and learning from.
Their most recent change comes from a creator who is bringing real‑world tension into the content. A literal Sherlock‑style character, as the app’s name suggests.
The creator films a stranger walking down the street, discreetly, and then uses the app to find that person’s profile.
This video alone pulled 6.3M views.
It’s a risky strategy, filming strangers can easily spark backlash but it taps into something deeper happening on TikTok.
In the early days, TikTok was built on filters, effects, and layers of disguise. Today, creators go out of their way to show raw, unfiltered reality and Sherlock is leaning into that shift.
