A Pregnancy App Breaking Away From Usual Formats
The maternity app market is huge, from period and cycle tracking to ovulation, fertility, and pregnancy tracking.
But the viral format in this category is almost always the same.
This week we found an app taking a different approach.
Lifeing is primarily a pregnancy‑tracking app built to follow the baby’s development, symptoms, and overall progress.
@salta.momdiary, one of their creators, is testing two strategies.
The first is emotional realism, showing the overwhelm, fear, and uncertainty women feel in early pregnancy.
“That moment when you find out you’re pregnant and your whole life suddenly pauses because nothing feels clear anymore except those two lines.” → 404.4K views, 274 comments
The second is tapping into heartbreak and abandonment, and (unsurprisingly) that’s where the comments explode.
“That feeling when you find out you’re already 2 months pregnant and he told you yesterday he hasn’t loved you for a long time, so now you’re staring at those two lines having no idea what to do next.” → 320K views, 1,220 comments
Once again, framing everyday life situations as relationship struggles helps connect with people in a stronger way. It is a smart way to get attention, but it will be interesting to see how they turn that storytelling into actually getting people to download the app, as for now, most videos remain without CTA.
